U-Blog 3

The different theories relating to learning are interesting when you think them. Children learn so easily and therefore don't really need a specific strategy to learn. Granted, many kids do learn better one way than others, but they will still retain more information than adults when learning in a "non-prefered" way. Adults tend to need specialized attention when learning, and most adults have figured out how they learn best, and have trouble retaining information from another source.

U-Blog 2

The IT project assignment seems cool. I'm going to try to get with Mrs. Patten for mine. I like the idea of helping people and teaching.

U-Blog 1

This semester has been rough for me. A lot of homework, and a lot of stress. I've been dealing with some issues, outside of school, but i'm trying to keep my mind clear and focus on school and work.

I like the question about the three different learning groups (by age) because i've dealt with this before. I teach private drum lessons, and I've taught different age groups. Also, I work for the Geek Squad, and we offer computer training, so there again I have worked with different age groups. The younger crowd always seems to want you to give them an objective, and then they want to figure it out for themselves. However, the senior crowd tends to want you to walk them through it step by step, and have layed out instructions on how to accomplish the goal.

Work Place Learning

I have been researching learning in the workplace, and the need to have sufficient training in the workplace. Basically, what I have found is that If a company doesn't invest money in training, then the overall learning pace is slowed. You have to have a good training program for employees, because most places of work have a steep learning curve when there is no proper training. Some trends in workplace learning include increased pressure on employees, (i.e. - tighter deadlines). Give employees every opertunity to learn. The more they learn, the better they do their job.

TSTM 444

TSTM...if you're reading this and you aren't familliar with TSTM already, then you're probably thinking..."What the hell does that stand for?" Well, TSTM is a major at the University of South Carolina. It stands for Technical Support and Training Management. Yeah, it's a mouth full. 444 is a class number, and this blog was created for that class. But, that's all for now, I might add more later.
